An Evening At… Qu’Importe!
In Geneva we are very spoilt when it comes to choices of bars. There are some wonderful places scattered over the city, however one of my favourite areas to head to is Carouge. This quaint part of the city hosts a number of great bars and restaurants, including this week’s choice: Qu’Importe.
Qu’Importe is situated on the main route through Carouge, making it an easy location when giving directions to your group! I decided to meet friends here for a few drinks and a bite to eat on a Thursday evening…
Qu’Importe has a wonderful outdoor terrace at the front of the bar with numerous seating options. Due to the glorious summer weather we have been experiencing recently, the terrace area has been filling up quite quickly, so it is advised to arrive early should you wish to sit outside. My group and I arrived at 7:30pm and the terrace was already full, so we had no option but to sit inside.
Although we would have preferred to spend the evening outside, the main bar area in Qu’Importe is definitely not a disappointment! The bar has a very cosy and rustic atmosphere, with warm woods and soft lighting. During the summer, they also open up the front windows, so you can enjoy both the ambiance of a bar and the open-air freshness of a terrace (we decided to sit just inside the bar for this very reason!). There is also another room located downstairs, which caters for around 35 persons and can be hired for larger groups.
When it came to ordering drinks, there was a lot of choice. The wine menu in Qu’Importe is quite extensive and offers a great range of French and Swiss wines- They also offer a homemade sangria which is a nice summer alternative! For those who do not drink, there is also a range of great alcohol-free cocktails- very delicious and from what I have seen, extremely large in size!
After ordering a glass of red Swiss Gamay (CHF 7), I wanted to choose something to eat to complement it. Qu’Importe have a very vast range of brushetta (around 15 types to be precise!) ranging from CHF 10 – 25 so really offering something for everyone. I chose a plate of fresh and sundried tomato bruschetta costing CHF 10. They were very nice and quite a good value for money in comparison to some of the other bars in the city.
Qu’Importe is a lovely bar in the heart of Carouge. Although it has a warm and cosy ambiance, it is also very lively, with a great atmosphere. The prices here are also quite reasonable and competitive for Geneva. All in all, Qu’Importe is one of my favourite options when meeting a group of close friends for an evening of chats, nice drinks and tasty bites to eat.
