Bike to Barbecue – A Not-So-Lazy Sunday

How about notbeing so lazy this Sunday? Instead, let’s enjoy an easy bike ride to Hermance on Sunday,

Bike to BBQ

August 19th, with the association Pro Vélo!  Hermance is a beautiful lakeside village, and is located just before the French border, towards Yvoire and Evian. The ride is approximately 30 kms and is mainly flat, so I can promise the ride won’t be too hard! Plus, once you get to Hermance, Pro Vélo is providing a BBQ for CHF12, so you will still have the opportunity to be lazy while sitting in the grass, soaking up the beautiful weather that is forecast for this weekend! If you would prefer to bring your own picnic, that’s fine, too! In order to partake in the fun, you need to register in advance at, or by calling 076/203 22 24. The meeting point is at 10:00 in Parc des Bastions (in front of the Reformation wall), and Pro Vélo will be providing guides to ensure that nobody gets lost on the journey. You can expect to be back in Geneva around 17:00. Tip: Don’t forget to take some water, suncream, sunglasses and a hat! For those of you that enjoy swimming, be sure to also bring your swimsuit since you’ll be able to take a dip in the lake if you want to cool-off! Can you think of a better way to spend this summery Sunday? I certainly can’t!

Pro Vélo is a great association for cyclists. If you have any questions about cycling in Geneva, or if you need a cycling map, be sure to contact them. They also offer free tours every first Saturday of the month, and it’s a great opportunity to discover Geneva from another perspective! You can either get a cultural tour, or take a mechanical lesson if you’re interested in how your bike works!

Save the Date: If you can’t make the Bike to Barbecue this weekend, or if you have so much fun that you want to do it again, then be sure to mark your calendar for the next one on September 16, 2012!

Originally from France, I’ve been living abroad for 15 years... My background is in Education. I’ve been in Geneva for 6 years now and I'm loving it. At first I found it boring but then I found out that most of what it has to offer is hidden. As I love going out and exploring, this big village is just like a playground for me: I'm having tons of fun and I hope I can share it with you! I head up the Out and About and Lazy Sunday sections of Biskotti so if you're organizing an exciting event, be sure to invite me!
