Chilling Out at Le Reposoir
Personally, I love to spend time outdoors and, if the weather is nice on Sunday, I won’t miss the opportunity to hang out at the beach! I might even go for a swim (just be careful when going into the water, as it’s a bit slippery). If you are quite an active person, you can always go SUPping (Standing Up Paddle) for a good core workout! I have yet to give it a try, but it looks easy to learn and like it would be a lot of fun!
Le Reposoir is ideal to spend the day relaxing near the lake, with a view of the Salève. It’s a small, free beach with grass, and once you are there you really feel you are on holiday all over again. That’s even their motto! Located just before Chambésy, Le Reposoir is a walk-able distance from the center of town (approximately 1 km from the Botanical Gardens). If you cycle, you’ll be there in no time. You can also drive there but be aware that the car park is quite small and fills up very quickly.
I think it’s worth going even if the weather is not very nice because, if you are into good food, I can recommend having lunch at the restaurant there. The dishes are really delicious and worth the trip. It’s probably one of the best places to try the famous ‘filets de perche’ because they make them with a variety of sauces – ginger, lime, tartare, and curry, just to name a few. If you prefer meat, they also make good steaks on a hot stone. If you’re not enticed to try it yet, then perhaps their yummy, homemade desserts will tempt to! ‘Magical’ strawberry mousse or the chocolate cake are some of the highlights. If you like sweet wine, then have a glass of ‘chant des sirènes’!
Tips: They don’t take credit card, and it’s best to make a reservation for lunch.
Le Reposoir, route de Lausanne 222. 022.732.42.65. Open daily from 11:45am to 2:30pm and 6:45pm to 10:30pm (closed for lunch on Tuesday and Saturday). There is also a bar if you would rather just have some snacks and drinks, and they serve breakfast from 8am on Sundays.
Have fun and let me know how it was!
