This week don’t miss a great hip hop festival, a blues concert, board games for everyone, a fantastic film festival, Cumbia, a Christmas fair and the family village! “Les Automnales” is also still on at Palexpo. Communes Ikation Hip Hop Festival: This festival aims at showing the true values and the multiple aspects of this rich, but too often undermined, culture. 7 communes have created an association to allow young artists to perform and emphasize creativity, non-violence, respect and tolerance. It started last Friday with a photo exhibition on Boulevard des Promenades. From November 17 onwards there will be open-dances sessions, open mikes nights, and concerts. You can also join one of the workshops and learn how to write, how to make graffiti, slam or sound sampling…Basically be creative! Another busy week with a great multicultural festival, some very good musicians in town, a taste of Brazil and autumn festivals! InteGREAT Festival: A couple of weeks ago, Biskotti published an article about multiculturalism in Geneva. This festival is a great way to celebrate and promote integration, diversity and cultural exchanges. On the menu: flamenco, tango and martial arts! Bolivian food, amongst others, debates on cultural identity, book readings, movies and art exhibitions. Full program here. Maison de Quartier de la Jonction. Avenue de Sainte-Clotilde, 18bis. October 17-20. Les jeudis de la guitare – Guitar Thursdays: This is a great, monthly guitar concert to attend! Sambafest: If you’re in need of a bit of sun during this grey weather, then head to Nyon and immerse yourself in the Brazilian culture! Highlights of the week include a dance festival, Turkish music, a short-movie night and classic cars! One and Only Fluxum Festival: The Fluxum Foundation has been supporting artists for 10 years, and they are celebrating their anniversary with an amazing dance festival! They’ll have a different topic each day: not only can you catch a show, but you will also be able to watch a film or learn some dance techniques, thanks to the free workshops open to everyone.  I’ve seen some of the artists before and they are very impressive. October 1-10   Alla Turca: This Turkish music and film festival has lots of different genres of music, and lots of talented artists! Who doesn’t have a Turkish friend in Geneva?
