A Perfect Day in Pâquis

What better way to start the day than by having breakfast at Bains des Pâquis?

Bain de Paquis is Geneva’s own beach bar/cafe. It is accessed via a walkway from Quai du Mont-Blanc 30. Early morning is my favourite time here as you can get a stunning view of the lake and Jet d’eau at sunrise and it is less crowded than the afternoon.

Breakfast… in bed?

February 10, 2013 / by / 0 Comment

How about being really lazy for once? After all since I started writing this section I’ve taken you out a lot… even for walks and all… I guess I am more of an active person… But sometimes it feels so good to simply do… nothing! So how about spending the day in bed? Watch some DVDs? Read a book? How many times have you dreamt of having breakfast served in bed? And how many times did it actually happen? The company Ptit Dej O Lit might well have the solution. Whatever you fancy, it’s most likely that they have it. They even have gluten free products for those of you who are intolerant to it. I’m hungry just scrolling down the list of pastries… And this way you don’t have to fight with your partner over who is going to prepare breakfast. You still have to open the door though! Biskotti hasn’t tried their service yet so please let us know what you think! They work with local people to get fresh products so that’s already a plus! They deliver everyday, even on Sundays and Bank holidays, another good point for them! Just go online, and order everything you want the day […]

Breakfast in town and a stroll along the Arve…

How about going for a walk this week? Whether you want to stay in town or go in the country, Geneva offers a lot of options for short and easy walks. A really nice one is to go along the Arve River; It’s a good idea to take bus number 8 to Pont-Sierre to and begin from there to walk all the way back to Jonction. Or you go in the other direction and start from Jonction. Make sure you have good shoes, as it might get a bit muddy! You’ll be walking through forests and see great autumn-coloured trees; you will also go via Carouge. What I also find interesting is the colour of the water that keeps changing and all the birds you can observe if you are quiet enough. If you need a map you can find one here. The City of Geneva website has a list of 10 walks that are all quite fun to do, especially to discover or re-discover parks, museums and places you probably haven’t even noticed. I would start the day with breakfast before the walk but feel free to have brunch after your exercise! A good place is Chez Quartier, on rue […]
