The first festival of the season in the Geneva area is the Caribana Festival, which takes place in June in Crans-sur-Nyon (more commonly known simply as Crans), a 20-minute drive from Geneva.

Free concerts all summer in Parc de la Grange

Karaoke night: Have you ever complained about not being able to find a pleasant place to have a karaoke night with your friends? Well le Chic might be the solution. Hot Air Balloon Festival

I’m taking you out of Geneva again this Sunday, but if you prefer to stay in town, there is quite a lot going on: Black Movie Festival, Antigel Festival, Sunday tales and Sunday concert. Check out our Out & About section for all the details. The International Hot Air Balloon Festival is taking place in Château d’Oex from Saturday (January 26) to February 3 so you have plenty of time to go but it’s definitely a nice Sunday outing.  Château d’Oex is a lovely small town in the Vaud Canton, about 2 hour drive from Geneva. It is about the same by train, via Montreux, it’s a lovely journey as the landscape is gorgeous. More than 80 hot-air balloons from 18 countries meet in the sky above with a stunning view on the mountains. Each day you can watch the shows that include balloons but also paragliders and airships. All the acrobatic flying is pretty amazing to watch. You can obviously enjoy local food, mulled wine, crepes and more when you are there. Highlights of the week include a dance festival, Turkish music, a short-movie night and classic cars! One and Only Fluxum Festival: The Fluxum Foundation has been supporting artists for 10 years, and they are celebrating their anniversary with an amazing dance festival! They’ll have a different topic each day: not only can you catch a show, but you will also be able to watch a film or learn some dance techniques, thanks to the free workshops open to everyone.  I’ve seen some of the artists before and they are very impressive.
