Unusual Tour, Brunch and Tales

September 24, 2012 / by / 0 Comment

I should probably let you know that I’m a hyperactive kind of person…even on a lazy Sunday! So, don’t feel obliged to do all of the following… If you like history, this is your last opportunity to enjoy a unique tour of Geneva. I don’t know about you, but I always learn new things about this town; even though it’s not that big! Balade au Fil de l’Eau is a tour, organised by the tourist office, that teaches you about Geneva history through its connection to water. Tours in English and French depart at 10.30am in front of the tourist office on rue du Mont-Blanc, 18 and last two hours. Tickets are 15 CHF. After the tour, your day can continue with a brunch – yes, some places are indeed open on Sundays! One of my favorite places is L’Auberge du Cheval Blanc in Carouge. They have a really good buffet with toast, eggs, bacon, quiches, salads, cheese and desserts; and all at a good price – 28 CHF, without drinks. Make sure to reserve: 022.343.61.61. Place de l’Octroi, 15. 11am-2pm. If you still want to have a bit more fun, then now is the perfect time for a good […]

Historical Dardagny or Brunching on a Boat?

If you are looking for a great Sunday activity this week, then I have two options for you. If you’re still looking for more, then there are also a lot of other events going on, so make sure to check out my Geneva Out and About section.  It’s up to you! Celebrating Rousseau’s 300th Birthday in Dardagny – September 1-2 If you’ve been following us for a while, you have hopefully already saved this weekend’s date in your diary. The village of Dardagny is putting together a historical fest, and I have a feeling it’s going to be great. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to live at the era of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, here is the opportunity. As you probably know, Geneva has been organizing a lot of events in honour of Rousseau’s 300th birthday. In Dardagny, there will be plenty of activities for all ages; including people in costumes, puppet shows, dance performances, street artists, fencing lessons, and even more, all free! It doesn’t get much better than that! The festival starts at 10:30am on both days, and finishes at 11pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. Dardagny is 18 kms from Geneva, and is even […]

Sunday Brunch, Out of Town, With a Side of Music

July 10, 2012 / by / 0 Comment

How about going somewhere a bit different for a brunch this weekend? If you feel like getting out of Geneva without going too far, then you should check out this restaurant: Cuvaloup de Crans, in La Cure. They have a brunch menu for CHF 26, drinks included. They will also have live Cuban music this Sunday! It will all take place outside on the terrace if the weather is nice, or inside if we are unlucky.  Brunch is on from 10am to 2pm. Address: Route de Cuvaloup – 1265 La Cure. It’s about 45Ks from Geneva, but it’s easy to get  there by car and also by getting a train to Nyon and then a bus: Yes, trains and postal buses really do go everywhere in Switzerland! On your way back, if it’s sunny, stop by the swimming pool of Nyon – the best swimming pool in the region. It’s right on the lake, so you can choose whether you want to swim in the pool or in the lake. They have a huge grass area, too, so it’s simply the best way to relax on a Sunday afternoon. And who knows, you might even get a suntan!
